Beginner Path

Mentorship Funnel

CodeVent Digital needed more than a website, it needed a real learning product

CodeVent Digital is a web development education brand I founded in November 2025,built around the mission of teaching HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to complete beginners across Nigeria. The brand had a homepage, a WhatsApp community, and a paid mentorship offering. But it was missing the one thing that would justify all of it: a real, free curriculum students could actually work through.

Without a structured learning path, the community had no clear entry point. Students would join, feel lost about where to start, and disengage. The Swift Web Dev Course was built to fix that, and to serve as the top of the conversion funnel leading toward paid mentorship.

Beginner learning platforms fail students in two ways: too much, too fast, or too scattered to follow

Most free resources for beginner developers are either overwhelming (full YouTube playlists, 30-day bootcamp dumps) or fragmented (random blog posts with no clear progression). The student ends up paralysed, not knowing what to do next or whether they're on the right track.

The design challenge wasn't just "build a course site", it was: how do you make a beginner feel capable, not intimidated, from the very first page? Every UX and copywriting decision in the platform flows from that question.

A structured, opinionated learning path, with zero ambiguity about where to start and what comes next

I built the course platform around three principles: clarity, progression, and momentum. Every page, every lesson link, every CTA was designed to answer one question: "what do I do next?"

Curriculum Structure

01

HTML Foundations

Document structure, semantic tags, links, images, forms building the skeleton of every webpage from first principles.

02

CSS Styling & Layout

Selectors, box model, flexbox, grid, responsive design with media queries, from basic styling to full page layouts.

03

JavaScript Essentials

Variables, functions, DOM manipulation, events, and building interactive components, making pages come alive.

Key UX Decisions

Linear, locked progression, students can't skip ahead. Each module unlocks the next, preventing overwhelm and creating a clear sense of achievement.
No account required, students access all content instantly with zero signup friction. Progress is tracked via localStorage.
Practice-first design, every concept page links directly to the Portable Code Editor, so students apply what they've just read immediately.
Mobile-optimised layout, the majority of CodeVent's audience accesses content on phones. Every lesson page was built mobile-first.
Soft upsell to mentorship, at the end of each module, a natural CTA points toward the paid mentorship group, not aggressive, just present.

CodeVent Digital's community now has a real starting point — and a clear path forward

The Swift Web Dev Course is now the primary entry point for new CodeVent Digital students. When someone joins the WhatsApp community or sees the brand for the first time, they're directed to the course;a free, structured resource that immediately demonstrates value and builds trust.

Completion of the free curriculum is the natural trigger for the mentorship upsell. Students who finish the three modules have proven to themselves that they can learn, and are far more motivated to invest in the paid mentorship to go further. The course doesn't just teach; it qualifies and converts.

It also demonstrates, for any potential client looking at this portfolio, that I don't just build interfaces, I think about the product, the user journey, and the business outcome behind it.

Building your own product is one of the hardest tests of a developer's skills, there's no external client brief to hide behind, no one to approve each decision. Every choice in this platform was mine: the UX architecture, the curriculum structure, the copywriting, the technical implementation, and the conversion strategy. If I can think and build at this level for my own product, I can do it for yours.
